Trust someone else to remember your password….a Password Manager!

Password Manager

We have all made the mistake of using passwords that might be easy for others to guess, using short passwords, and the worst internet sin of all, using the same username and password combination on more than one site...

We all know the simple rules for the safe use of passwords on the internet:

·  Do change passwords frequently (three to six months)

·  Don’t re-use passwords

·  Don’t use easy to guess passwords like Ravens123!

·  Do use passphrases like Ravens1Jackson2Tucker3

*we recommend not using that passphrase now that we’ve posted it :-)

Bad actors are always looking for passwords on the dark web. Many times, when there is a data breach, the bad actors will purchase your password, and then, hoping you haven’t changed it in a while, try your password on the breached account. If you have been made aware of the breach, hopefully you have changed that password. However, if you have used the same password on other accounts, those accounts are now susceptible to being broken into since the bad actor will try that same username and password on many sites, especially social media, banking and purchasing sites.

To manage all your accounts, usernames and passwords while keeping sane, you may want to consider using a Password Manager.

Password managers can integrate with your web browser and apps on your phone or computer and will automatically fill in your username and password when you visit a site. It can also create challenging passwords so you don't have to.

A user never has to actually remember or type in this password since the password manager will either integrate with your website or application and supply it for you, or you can simply copy and paste the password from the manager to the application.

Remember, if you use a password manager, you only have to remember one username and password pair; the one to open the password manager!
