Have You Been Hacked? Here’s the Plan to Recover and Keep It Under Control

Cyber Hacks

Every business is at risk of being hacked, especially small businesses.

It’s extremely difficult to regain control of everything the hackers accessed, but you can still act and salvage your reputation with your customers and clients if you’re properly prepared for an cyber attack.

But first, let’s define what exactly is a Data Breach and what’s the impact?

A data breach is any incident of an unauthorized person bypassing cybersecurity measures to view or steal confidential information. The breach can devastate business operations, customer security, and even your workforce, depending on the type of attack. This can result in a lost of millions of dollars, likely putting an organization out of business if not recovered in time.

A few things may tip you off to a security problem. A slow or lagging computer response time, pop-up windows that you can’t close, or strange programs or websites asking for your credentials could all be signs of a data breach.

Your priority after discovering a breach should be to acknowledge what happened, identify the severity of the breach, and note which customers might have been impacted

Next steps are to retain a specialist who can analyze the damage and prevent future breaches, stop using the infected equipment/software immediately, back up data, and inform your infected customers, letting them know the actions that will take place to resolve the issue(s).

With all that being said, how should you prevent future breaches? by following easy-to-follow steps like these:

1)   Provide cybersecurity training for your staff

2)   Perform regular audit checks to keep up with the maintenance of your equipment/software

3)   Use a VPN for a private connection within your secured network

It’s a long road to recovery after your company suffers a data breach, but once you have the situation under control, you can learn from it and work to prevent another incident!

Copilot Expands More Capabilities for Users

Copilot and Word

Starting this month, you can use Copilot in additional enhancements and capabilities! Let’s talk through them:

Create Word documents more efficiently with Copilot

Beginning this month, if you are using Copilot in Word to draft a document, you can now copy and paste a link of a supported file as a reference into Draft with Copilot, instead of searching for it in the file reference menu. This makes it faster for you to find any reference files you need to support your work.

Also, when you ask Copilot a question in Word chat, an answer will be generated using the rich, people-centric data and insights in the Microsoft cloud and Microsoft Graph. That way, you can stay in the app and maintain focus on creating your document.

App Assure now supports Copilot customers transitioning to Monthly Updates

Microsoft’s App Assure program now supports Copilot for Microsoft 365 customers moving to a monthly update channel, at no additional cost.

Companies that move to a monthly update channel get the latest features and custom rollout waves. In addition, monthly updates provide a secure experience that minimizes incidents and disruptions, offer better diagnostics for supportability, and minimize helpdesk claims.

Supporting new languages in Copilot for Microsoft 365

M365 is rolling out support for an additional 16 languages in Copilot including Arabic, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Hebrew, Hungarian, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Ukrainian. These join the growing list of languages in which Copilot is already supported: Chinese (Simplified), English (US, GB, AU, CA, IN), French (FR, CA), German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (BR), and Spanish (ES, MX).

In addition, they are also making Chinese (Traditional) available on Copilot, meaning that you can work with Copilot using that language just as you can in free versions.
